Finding a natural/holistic doc is not easy

| October 31, 2011 | 4 Comments

Just where do you find a natural/holistic physician? It’s not easy, far beyond Google.

From Facebook and friends, I’ve collected a bunch of names.

I’ve sent email, looked at their web sites and am hoping to find someone. But I’m realizing this will not be an easy task.

There are a lot of chiropractors out there that specialize in this. But I want blood work and medical evaluation, too.  And I don’t need XRays or spinal adjustments or just supplements and vitamins. I want an entire program of wellness and I need some baseline medical testing for the benchmarks that this experiment demands.

There are a fewer but still a considerable number of medical doctors that claim to specialize in holistic and natural health practices. But many seem to be pushing DVDs and books and their own supplements as much as their treatments.

So my first step is in contacting the docs that seem most promising to my health and this project. I outlined the experiment and asked for advice, explaining that I want all this medically supervised.

Let’s see what comes back…

  4. There is a holistic doctor located in West Bloomfield, Michigan that my entire family attends. They do blood work, full exams, offer supplements, etc. The name of the place is Center for Holistic Medicine: http://www.centerforholisticmedicine.com/. The doctor who we go to is named Dr. Jeffrey Nusebaum. I recommend checking out their website.

I am glad you were able to follow me on twitter: OMFDental. I feel like my family and I have very similar interests that you have. My mother is a vegan, and my sister is a vegetarian. I am slowly trying to move towards healthier eating habits as well. I started a Health & Nutrition blog (www.omfdental.com/blog) on our website with the help of my mother for my dental office, to help educate our patients on the importance of eating healthy. I am happy to find your website and look forward to following your journey.
